Actors Rob Mac, Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively watched on as Wrexham were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea.

The Welsh Championship team, which is owned by Deadpool star Reynolds and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Mac, were beaten 4-2 by Premier League side Chelsea after extra time in the fifth round tie, with the trio cheering their team’s goals.

Reynolds, 49, could be seen kissing and hugging his 38-year-old wife, Lively, during the game, as she held one of their children, who was wearing a Wrexham shirt.

Wrexham took the lead early on in the game at the Racecourse Ground through striker Sam Smith, however Chelsea equalised through an own goal.

After going 1-0 up, Mac posted a picture of himself with Reynolds on his Instagram story, with the caption: “Oh my.”

Reynolds, Mac and Gossip Girl star Lively were celebrating once again when defender Callum Doyle put their team 2-1 up close to the game’s conclusion, but a late equaliser from Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong took the game to extra time.

After a red card for Wrexham’s George Dobson, goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Joao Pedro eventually knocked the Welsh team out of the cup.

At the full time whistle, Mac, who last year changed his surname from McElhenney, posted: “Proud of the team, today and every day.”

Reynolds and Mac bought Wrexham for £2 million in February 2021 and have led the Welsh club out of the National League, the fifth division of English football, and into the Championship, which is beneath only the Premier League.

The team is currently in the play-off places in the Championship, which would give them the chance to compete for promotion to the Premier League if they remain there at the end of the season.

Last year, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said Reynolds and Mac’s presence at the club “lifts the whole place”.

The pair’s time with the club has been documented in the FX series, Welcome To Wrexham, which has earned 10 Emmys.
