Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney inspire Premier League club to repeat Wrexham gesture

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have inspired Bournemouth owner Bill Foley to offer to fly the Cherries squad out to Las Vegas for a survival party.

Reynolds and McElhenney bankrolled a trip to Sin City for their Wrexham squad after the Red Dragons won the National League title. The Hollywood duo allowed their players to celebrate in style after the end of the campaign and appear to have inspired Foley to follow in their footsteps.

Foley completed his takeover of Bournemouth in December, with the Cherries fighting back from their dreadful 9-0 defeat to Liverpool in August to reach the edge of safety. Under boss Gary O'Neil, they have claimed 39 points, nine clear of the relegation zone.

There are just three games left of the campaign, with Bournemouth appearing all but assured of safety. If they do as expected secure their stay in the Premier League for another year, Foley is plotting a special celebration.

According to the Daily Mail, Foley has offered to fly the team out to Las Vegas as a reward to avoiding the drop. The squad will split a seven figure bonus as part of the terms agreed with the club last summer.

But Foley is also keen to add something special and invited them to Vegas after the thumping win over Leeds. Foley owns NHL side the Vegas Golden Knights and wants his other sports team to travel over.

But there are fears that the squad may have to turn down the invitation as most already have pre-existing family commitments. The Cherries are exploring alternative ways to celebrate, though boss O'Neil is keeping his eyes firmly fixed on achieving survival.

"The lads have looked like a good side for the last few weeks and today I saw a lot that I liked but I don't like this feeling. The lads are aware that we're pretty much safe," he told Match of the Day after last weekend's defeat to Chelsea.

"But we don't want to feel like this every week until the end of the season. You can play well for 70-75 minutes but it is no good if you lose 3-1. We have to keep high standards. Let's not settle for 39 points."

Foley may have got the inspiration to send the Cherries to Vegas from compatriots Reynolds and McElhenney. The decision to send Wrexham to Vegas proved popular with the players, with captain Ben Tozer hailing the duo.

“We got there Thursday dinner time, they took us to Hakkasan for dinner which was amazing and then we went to Hakkasan Nightclub and they treated us to the best tables and it was just insane really. Almost everything was insane," he told talkSPORT.

“At the Bellagio [there was an ice sculpture] honestly the treatment we’ve had has been almost like royalty, it’s been so surreal and the owners are just incredible. They honour everything that they say and they don’t say it flippantly, so far they’ve backed everything they’ve said up.”
