Ryan Porteous will be suspended for Hibs’ league meeting with Celtic this Saturday and the Betfred Cup semi-final after the club opted against appealing his straight red card against Kilmarnock.
The defender was dismissed by Willie Collum during extra-time in the Hibees’ Betfred Cup quarter-final win over Kilmarnock in midweek.
The match finished goalless despite the numerical advantage held by the hosts for a period, and Paul Heckingbottom’s side came out on top in the eventual penalty shoot-out to set up a last four date with Celtic next month.
Neil Lennon takes his current club to his former one this Saturday lunchtime, and Porteous won’t be involved, with the laws determining he misses the next immediate match and next match in the competition he was sent off in for his reckless challenge on Liam Millar.
It’s understood that Hibs officials have watched the incident back and don’t see any merit in appealing the decision.
It is likely Adam Jackson will slot in alongside Paul Hanlon in Porteous’ absence. Darren McGregor is set to be out for several more weeks with an abdominal injury.
