Ryan Gosling leaves mums swooning at Hampstead school gates after relocating to affluent London neighbourhood

A Hollywood A-lister’s move to a leafy north London suburb has reportedly left mothers “swooning” at the school gates.

Ryan Gosling, 44, has moved from the US and bought a property in Hampstead with his wife Eva Mendes, bringing their daughters Esmerelda, 11, and Amada Lee, nine, with them.

Gosling is in the UK filming the latest Star Wars movie Starfighter, but it is understood he chose to leave the US to get away from the political climate, The Mail on Sunday reports.

A local said: "Yes, he's here and so delightful chatting to everyone at the school gate – such a lovely man.

"And everyone can't stop talking about how good looking he is, the mums are practically drooling over him."

Another ecstatic person took to Instagram's threads to reveal he held a door open for them, saying: "Today's unexpected adventure, Ryan Gosling holding the door open for me at a cafe in West Hampstead. What a gent!... Quite unexpected really!"

Hailing from Canada, Gosling met former model and actress Mendes, 51, on the set of thriller Place Beyond The Pines in 2012 and after having two daughters, they wed in 2022.

And the Hollywood A-lister is far from the only celebrity to have left Hollywood during Trump's term in office.

Top Gun star Tom Cruise is reportedly scouting for properties in the Cotswolds, while comedienne Ellen De Generes has relocated to the area with her wife Portia de Rossi.

Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera is also understood to be living in south-west London.

Gosling’s wife Eva stepped back from acting after the birth of their first daughter. Earlier this year, she said in a TV interview that it was a “no-brainer” that she would take a step back from Hollywood while Gosling continued to pursue his acting career.

“It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like: ‘OK, he’s going to work and I’m going to work. I’m just going to work here,” Mendes said while appearing on US TV show Today.

“He went and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job. And he did it and he came home.”
