Ryan Fraser's Arsenal transfer message over Bournemouth form this season

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser has opened up on how much he was affected by transfer speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal last summer.

The Scottish international was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, having impressed for the Cherries last season in the Premier League.

A move failed to materialise though, with Fraser staying at Bournemouth, where he has made 27 appearances so far this season, scoring just one goal.

And Fraser has admitted that his form has been affected by what happened in the summer in a candid interview with BBC Solent Sport.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

“I think everyone knows by now what has happened, to be honest with you," he said.

“It obviously affected me in the first four months of the season, I wasn’t myself and I didn’t play for the team, I’m honest enough to admit that.

“I look back at it and I spoke to my family about it, and it just looked bad on me, I didn’t help the team, so the last month or so I have been trying to put it right, and yes it shouldn’t have had to take me that long to realise, but I am my own worst critic and I apologise to the lads and that’s all I can do.

“I can only move on now and try my best."

Fraser is out of contract in the summer at Bournemouth, with no new deal being signed for the Scottish international to stay at the Vitality Stadium beyond the end of the season.

But he insists that he will do all he can between now and the end of the campaign to help Bournemouth stay in the Premier League.

“All I can say is I will give everything for the club,” he added.

“I have just talked about the last four months and that won’t be happening again.

“I can give everything, I can track back, I can try and get my assists and get my goals to help the club get where it should be in the Premier League.

“But after that I don’t really know what is going to happen, but that’s all I can promise.

"I will fight for the club, I will fight for the badge and fight for my team-mates, who are my mates as well, and I will fight for the manager and the fans.

“That’s all I can really say for now and what will be will be.”
