Ryan Christie seals Celtic exit as Scotland star joins Bournemouth's Championship promotion push

Ryan Christie has left Celtic and completed a move to Bournemouth for £1.5million.

Christie’s Parkhead contract was up in January and the Hoops have cashed in on the Scotland midfielder rather than losing him for nothing in four months’ time.

Ange Postecoglou admitted he would’ve liked to have kept Christie at the club and a contract offer remained on the table.

But the former Inverness CT man saw his future elsewhere and has moved to the Cherries for an undisclosed fee, thought to be close to £1million.

The 26-year-old joined Celtic in 2015 in a £500,000 switch from the Highlands and the attacking midfielder was immediately loaned back to ICT.

A two loan spells to Aberdeen followed as Christie gained Premiership experience before returning to Glasgow and forcing his way into the first team plans.

He’s likely to be replaced by Portuguese winger Filipe Jota.

A season-long loan deal has reportedly been agreed with the Lisbon giants, which includes an option to buy at the end of the season for £6.5million.

That transfer is expected to be confirmed today although the player isn’t expected to be in Scotland for the deal being done.
