Davie Provan has revealed Ryan Christie's dad Charlie sent him a furious text after he questioned his son's ambition for choosing Bournemouth over a Celtic stay.
Christie opted to leave Parkhead on deadline day for a move south to the English Championship.
That prompted criticism from Provan who claimed the Scotland cap may have chose cash over competition.
But Charlie Christie, who played for Celts during Provan's time at the club, was fuming with his old pal's comments and let him know exactly how he felt.
Revealing that the two exchanged messages, Provan explained how he felt Christie could have opted to play at a higher level than the second tier after leaving Ange Postecoglou's side.
He told Go Radio : "I got a message after the comments I made on the programme last week where I said it demonstrated a lack of ambition from Ryan Christie.
"His dad Charlie, who I played with at Celtic and was a teammate of mine, messaged me this week and was very unhappy that I suggested Ryan's ambition was in question.
"Basically he was just trying to point out that he sees Bournemouth as a stepping stone and a chance to kick on.
"Obviously he sees himself in the English Premier League at some stage.
"I just think he could have got a better club and, to put it simply, I think he's a better player than Bournemouth. I think he can get a much better club than Bournemouth."
