Rutherglen residents to be without Sunday train service for nearly two months

Rutherglen residents will have no local train services on Sundays for nearly two months due to massive engineering works taking place.

ScotRail have confirmed the works will start on Sunday, March 13 and run through until Sunday, May 8.

It means Rutherglen, Dalmarnock, Bridgeton, Glasgow Central Low Level and Exhibition Centre stations will be served by a limited replacement bus service instead.

A ScotRail statement said: "From 13 March until 8 May 2022, major improvement works on the track, tunnels and overhead line equipment between Rutherglen and the Exhibition Centre will take place, with the line closing and no services running during that time.

"Many services, which would normally operate via Glasgow Central Low Level, will be diverted into Glasgow Central High Level or Glasgow Queen Street Low Level.

"Revised services will operate on all routes during the closure, and journey times may be extended on some services to allow for trains taking a diverted route."
