Rutherglen pupils exams are cancelled due to coronavirus

All exams will be cancelled this year amid the coronavirus outbreak.

John Swinney announced today that all Scottish exams will be cancelled, for the first time since 1888.

This will affect all pupils in Rutherglen, Cambuslang and surrounding areas.

The deputy first minister made the announcement today in Parliament.

He said that results will be based off course work, assessment of estimated grades and prior attainment.

This is so that no pupil will be disadvantaged.

This news also comes after Nicola Sturgeon announced that all Scottish schools will close as of Friday.

The First Minister said that schools may not return until after the summer holidays.

She also told parliament that the confirmed number of cases is now 266 in Scotland, up 39 from yesterday.

And there have been a further three deaths in the country, bringing the total to six in Scotland.
