A motorist was arrested after her car overturned following a collision with a lamp post on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 10.30pm on Crosshill Road.
As well as the 28-year-old driver, a five-year-old boy was also in the vehicle.
Both were examined by paramedics at the scene.
Police confirmed that the woman failed a road-side alcohol breath test and was then taken to Cathcart police office, where she received a blood test.
The child was left with a guardian.
An eyewitness told the Reformer : “The woman got out the car, leaving the child inside. It was really horrible to see a car on its roof and everyone was worried about the child stuck inside.
“It’s a miracle nobody died.”
A report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal and details shared with social work.
