Rutherglen Glencairn boost as Covid battle boss Willie Harvey watches game

Rutherglen Glencairn were given a major boost on Saturday when boss Willie Harvey turned up to watch their West of Scotland Premier Division match, following a bout with Covid.

Harvey has missed the last four games while battling against the virus, but appeared to be in good spirits at the Hamish B. Allan Stadium, and spoke to players and staff.

Glencairn lost the game 2-1 to Clydebank, but assistant Joe Pryce, who has stepped up to full duties in recent weeks, says it was brilliant to see the gaffer on his way back to health.

Pryce said: “It was a boost for the players to see Willie.

"Obviously he’s not at 100 per cent fitness yet, but it was good to see him down, and making his presence felt round about the place.

“We were all worried about him, but we were chatting to him and he seems to be recovering, so hopefully it won’t be too long before he’s back – though there’s no hurry.”
