Rutherglen crimebeat: Man arrested for possessing two hammers

A Rutherglen man arrested for trying to break into  a number of properties was in possession to have  a Class A drug.

The 42-year-old was arrested last Monday when a member of the public called police after spotting the man in gardens attempting to open house and car doors.

When police arrived on the scene the man was  found to be in possession of three grams of heroin  and 30 tablets believed to be Diazepam.

He was detained pending a court appearance.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested  following an incident where his partner’s  elbow was broken and she suffered a dislocated shoulder

The incident took place during the early  hours of February 23 in a Rutherglen property.

The man was arrested and scheduled to appear in court

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Fernhill last week over alleged driving offences.

Around 3.40pm on Thursday, the male was stopped by police for not wearing his seat belt.

He is then said to have driven off at speed towards Castlemilk, where he mounted a kerb narrowly avoiding a pedestrian. He is alleged to have driven over several pavements before coming to a dead-end  in Fernhill, where he reversed into the police car causing damage before making off on foot before being caught.

He was arrested and pled not guilty at court.

Further dates have been set.

Police arrested a Rutherglen man who was walking the streets in possession of two hammers.

The 21-year-old was detained last Tuesday, February 25, at 10.50pm, after officers discovered the items in a shopping bag.

He was detained and scheduled to make an appearance in court.
