Television presenter Ruth Langsford is reportedly taking legal steps to protect her financial interests as she and estranged husband Eamonn Holmes move forward with divorce proceedings.
The couple, who were married for 14 years, announced their split last year. Since then, Ruth has remained in the couple’s £3.6 million six-bedroom marital home in Weybridge, Surrey, while Eamonn has relocated to a penthouse flat in Kingston, London.
According to reports, Ruth has now been granted a severance of joint tenancy on the property, a legal move that ensures her share of the home does not automatically transfer to Eamonn in the event of her death.
Sarah Dwight of the Law Society told The Sun, “One of the first things divorce lawyers do is to give their clients the option to sever the joint tenancy, so they can leave their share of the house to whoever they want.”
“This move protects Ruth in that if she were to die, she can leave her wealth to whoever she wants, rather than Eamonn getting everything,” Dwight explained.
The home, purchased in 2014 during the couple’s marriage, has become a focal point in the division of assets as the couple proceeds with their separation. Representatives for Ruth Langsford have been contacted by Express.co.uk for comment but have not yet responded.
While Ruth navigates the legal aspects of the split, Eamonn, 65, has moved on romantically and is now in a relationship with Katie Alexander, 43. However, sources have told The Mail that despite their closeness, Katie has no immediate plans to move in with the GB News presenter.
“There is no way Katie will leave her Yorkshire home and move in with Eamonn in the near future or for many years,” the insider revealed.
“She has her children to consider. Truth be told, they are a little unsettled at her relationship being played out in the media and she doesn’t want to uproot them.”
Katie is a mother of three, co-parenting two teenagers with her ex-husband and sharing a 22-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Eamonn also has four children. He shares 22-year-old Jack with Ruth and has three older children—Declan, Rebecca, and Niall—from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes. He is also a grandfather to Declan’s daughters, Emilia and Isabella.
As Ruth and Eamonn move on in their personal lives, legal proceedings and family considerations continue to shape the next chapter for the once high-profile couple.
