Russia warns US of 'unpredictable consequences' of sending Ukraine more military aid

Russia has issued a fresh warning to the United Stated saying there will be “unpredictable consequences” if they continue to supply Ukraine with advanced weaponry, according to US reports.

Moscow officials issued the warning this week and advised the United States and NATO against sending the “most sensitive” weapons to Kyiv for use in its defence against Russia.

The Washington Post reported that Russia is claiming these deliveries are “adding fuel” to the ongoing war and could come with “consequences” if it continues.

The caution comes after US President Joe Biden pledged to supply $800 million worth of military aid as part of its latest package of support for Ukraine.

This would include helicopters, howitzers, and armoured personnel carriers, all of which are vital to the Ukrainian military in defending their country.

According to US officials, the warning from Russia was sent through 'normal channels', and was not signed by any senior Russian officials.

An anonymous US official told CNN that the latest communication from Moscow suggests that Russia is concerned about the United States’ continuing to support Ukraine.

This is beginning to spark fears that Russia may take a more aggressive stance against the US in retaliation.

US President, Joe Biden told Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the latest package of weaponry on Wednesday, and said: “As Russia prepares to intensify its attack in the Donbas region, the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with the capabilities to defend itself.

“This new package of assistance will contain many of the highly effective weapons systems we have already provided and new capabilities tailored to the wider assault we expect Russia to launch in eastern Ukraine.”

It is day 52 of the invasion of Ukraine, and Russia has reportedly refocused its efforts to the east, as the violence continues and innocent people are displaced.
