Rugby star Simon Zebo pays tribute to tragic Cork schoolboy Jimmy Horgan

Irish rugby ace Simon Zebo has paid tribute to a Cork schoolboy who was tragically killed after being hit by a truck.

Jimmy Horgan, 13, was sadly pronounced dead after being hit while crossing the road by Sheares Street in Cork City on Tuesday.

Former Munster star and Cork native Zebo attended Presentation Brothers College - where Horgan had been a student - and says his thoughts are with everyone at his old school.

The Racing 92 player tweeted: "Very sad to hear about young Jimmy Horgan . Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and everyone at Pres #RIP "

In a statement released yesterday the school said: "We learned last evening of the death of one of our students, Jimmy Horgan who was in first year.

"During his time with us, he endeared himself to both classmates and staff alike. He will be greatly missed by us all. This is a terrible tragedy for the family, our school, and our community.

"We are deeply saddened by these events. Our sympathy and thoughts are with Jimmy’s family and friends."

Jimmy, who had four siblings, will have his funeral live-streamed from St Joseph's SMA Church in Blackrock on Friday.
