RTE will be showing Season 4 of The Handmaid's Tale this May

Having won 15 Emmys and received 54 nominations, the dystopian drama The Handmaid's Tale has really resonated with viewers and the wait for Season 4 is almost over.

After the trailer was released a few weeks ago, RTE has confirmed that the fourth season of the show will be available to watch on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player from Thursday, May 6 - just days after its US launch.

Once again, Elisabeth Moss returns as revolutionary leader June and the new season will pick up from that Season 3 cliffhanger.

Spoiler alert!

As the trailer showed, the show's heroine June Osbourne ( Elisabeth Moss ) was shot and carried to safety by her fellow handmaids.

During the teaser, we hear June's voiceover as she states how she "can't rest" as her "daughter deserves better" and "we all deserve better".

She continues: "Change never comes easy. This war isn't going to win itself."

As June becomes an even bigger revolutionary figure in Gilead, she organises handmaids and other members of society into challenging the extremist system.

In Season 4, we're told that she'll strike back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges.

During this quest for justice and revenge, events threaten to consume her and destroy June's most cherished relationships.
