RTE Dancing with the Stars pairings revealed with show to air within weeks

RTE has revealed the pairings of the remaining five couples competing on the upcoming series of Dancing with the Stars - kicking off in January.

Former GAA player Paul Brogan is beginning the New Year dancing with Salome Chachua.

Last year Salome was the only female pro dancer to get to the final, so this couple will have the Glitterball firmly in their sights.

Former Glee star Damian McGinty from Derry is paired with Kylee Vincent. Kylee and Damian will find themselves competing against her husband Stephen Vincent, who is paired with former state pathologist Marie Cassidy.

Comedian Kevin McGahern will be sure to entertain as he hits the dance floor with returning pro Laura Nolan, who most recently danced with Love Island star Matthew McNabb in the last season.

Former rugby ace Shane Byrne is paired with Karen Byrne for series six of DWTS. Tackling the challenge with a former winner of the series, Shane will be hoping to take home a new trophy – the coveted Glitterball.

2FM Breakfast host and Instagram sensation Carl Mullan is partnered with Emily Barker. Having previously made it to the final, Emily will be hoping this year she can go one step further.

Elsewhere, dancer Denys Samson will partner with Panti Bliss. Denys, 32, who performed with singer Erica Cody last season, will be making a bid for the Glitterball alongside Ireland’s number one drag queen Panti, aka Rory O’Neill.

Derry Girl Leah O’Rourke, partnered with pro John Nolan, reckons the same-sex pair are “definitely a contender to win”.

Leah, 32, said: “I have seen Panti Bliss’ moves and she is absolutely fantastic. She has pizzazz and has really been giving it her all.”

Footballer Stephanie Roche is hoping to win with Irish pro dancer Ervinas Merfeldas. Another pairing in the sixth season is former Eurovision singer Brooke Scullion and returning pro dancer Maurizio Benenato.
