CHANDIGARH: The police claimed to have arrested two persons involved in cheating cases and recovered Rs 35.70 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 12.94 lakh from the accused on Saturday.
Police officials identified the accused as Chauhan Ratan and Parmar Rajesh, both residents of Sector 47/C. Police informed that both the accused were running a racket of cheating people by cyber fraud. Police said they used to cheat people through online fraud including hacking, card cloning and skimming.

Police officials identified the accused as Chauhan Ratan and Parmar Rajesh, both residents of Sector 47/C. Police informed that both the accused were running a racket of cheating people by cyber fraud.
According to the police, they used to cheat people through online fraud including hacking, card cloning and skimming, using it to purchase goods and selling it immediately to receive handy cash.
The accused also revealed to the police that they used various networks to get the cash to the destination.
Following the information after a case of similar fraud registered with the Sarangpur police station, police officials laid down a trap upon receipt of information that gold articles using similar modus operandi was bought from Caratlane Tanishq, Sector 17 using Digigold payment gateway.
An attempt was also made to sell the jewellery for cash, which was foiled by team of police led by SHO Sarangpur. A case under sections 406, 419, 420 and 34 of the IPC and Section 66 (D) of the IT Act was registered at Sarangpur police station and following the investigation both the accused were arrested.
While working on the case, police also recovered Rs 35. 70 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 12. 94 lakh from the accused.
