Royal Mail warns we have six days to post certain Christmas cards and presents

Every year, Royal Mail issues "last posting dates" in the run-up to Christmas, to ensure cards and gifts arrive before the big day.

This year is no different, with the postal service urging customers to "beat the festive rush and get all your letters and parcels in the post on time." Royal Mail added: "Allow plenty of time for posting. Please post items and gifts for Christmas early, particularly for International deliveries."

The dates vary depending on where the recipient lives, and which service is used to send the items.

If you're sending Christmas cards or gifts to anyone in Australia or New Zealand, there are just six days left to do so. Royal Mail's website states the last dates for its International Standard and International tracking and signature services to these two countries is December 1.

There are further dates for other international destinations, such as December 2 for China, and December 8 for Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Eastern Europe (except Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia) and Turkey. You can find all the last posting dates here

Royal Mail has hit headlines in recent days, as staff across the country are to walk out on a number of dates over the next month as the row over pay and conditions continues. It is the latest in a series of walk-outs which were confirmed by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) last month. Previous strikes took place in August, September and October.
