Royal family have unexpected response to couple’s re-creation of Meghan Markle’s infamous ‘Baby Momma’ dance video

Harry and Meghan’s “Baby Momma” dance video has received 54 million views since it was posted by the Duchess of Sussex earlier this month. While the Royal family have not addressed the video publicly, they have responded to a video posted by another couple who re-created the infamous video.

Social media personalities, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, recently announced their pregnancy during a trip to Buckingham Palace and they did so in a very interesting way. The couple posted a clip of themselves dancing in the palace while showing off Sophie’s bump.

It seemed undeniably reminiscent of Meghan Markle’s dance video from earlier this month and it seems quite a few people thought so too.

The Royal family response

The parody video found its way to the official Instagram account for the Royal family (yes they have an official Instagram account) who had a few words to say about the video. Responding in the comments section of  Jamie Laing’s video, the Royal account wrote, “we see you,” followed by a winking face emoji.

The comment took many by surprise but Instagram users loved the sassy response, one person wrote, “in a world at times worrying and serious, this comment was so needed.” Another added, “we are here for this type of replies.”

Of course, it’s incredibly unlikely that King Charles or Queen Camilla made this post (although imagining them scrolling through Insta-reels is a funny thought). The fact is the comment comes across as way too in-touch to be from anyone of actual royalty. The official account is likely just managed by someone operating on behalf of the family. But still, this is the first time we’ve seen a statement regarding the “Baby Momma” dance video come from an official royal source.

What do the Royals think of Meghan Markle’s original video?

Members of the Royal family have remained tight-lipped regarding Meghan’s original dance video which isn’t really a surprise. However, many ordinary people online were quick to share their opinions regarding the clip when it was initially posted. Some found it humorous while others thought it to be cringey. A handful of conspiracy theorists suggested that the clip proves the Duchess of Sussex faked her pregnancy.

But as for Harry and Meghan’s relatives, it was radio silence. Palace sources have claimed that behind closed doors the King and other senior royals believe the Sussexes “have lost it” after seeing the bizarre video. While that’s not been confirmed, the official Royal account acknowledging Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s video certainly suggests that the family are well aware of the original video.
