Roy Keane praised Ollie Watkins after the striker got emotional following England's win over San Marino.
The Aston Villa player netted on his first outing for the Three Lions after coming off the substitutes bench just after the hour mark of the 5-0 thrashing of San Marino at Wembley on Thursday night.
He fired an inch-perfect shot past the inspired opposition goalkeeper Elia Benedettini who did well to limit England to five goals.
Watkins' fine season continues, with the £28 million summer signing from Brentford netting 12 times for Villa this campaign.
The 25 year-old spoke to broadcaster ITV after the game and did not hide his delight at netting on debut.
And that has earned praise from Manchester United legend Roy Keane, who was pleased to see the player open up on national television.
"You speak to any striker, Wrigty in particular, it is about putting the ball in the back of the net," Keane said.
"That is the most important stat for any striker.

"I think the lad, it has been a great move for him to Villa and he obviously knows the manager well having worked previously with him.
"He spoke really well there, he looked quite emotional and that is why we love the game of football and it is the best game on the planet.
"Can you imagine him going back to his hotel tonight? He will be flying.
"He didn't hide his feelings, sometimes lads get interviewed and everyone tries to be cool with the media sometimes.
"But he was emotional there and it was great to see."
Speaking after the game, Watkins said: "It's been a good journey. I just feel honoured that I can come out here and pull on the shirt and get the chance to play with the players I'm playing with and even score on my debut. I couldn't write it, I'm over the moon."
