Roy Keane criticised Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson for 'screaming' after the midfielder won a penalty in England's win over Belgium.
Gareth Southgate's side, skippered by Henderson on Sunday afternoon, recovered from Romelu Lukaku's early penalty to bounce back and beat former Everton manager Roberto Martinez's side 2-1 in their UEFA Nations League fixture at Wembley.
Mason Mount's deflected 65th minute strike secured the win but the key moment came six minutes before half time when England were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.
It came about after German referee Tobias Stieler ruled Henderson had been pulled back at a corner by Thomas Meunier.
Former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland midfielder Keane thought the decision was soft and should not have been given, criticising Henderson for 'screaming' and going down too easily after he was touched on the shoulder.
Hitc report that on ITV's evening highlights show Keane said: "I don’t think it’s a penalty.
"He’s barely touched him. How can a player scream when he touches him on the shoulder?
"He’s screaming. You don’t need to scream."
Henderson and Meunier exchanged words after the game, with the Belgium defender - now with Borussia Dortmund - appearing to mock the Liverpool captain and imitating his fall.
After the game Henderson - who started his first game since picking up an injury in Liverpool 's win at Chelsea this month - said of the incident : “I got in front of my man and I felt him pull me back on my shoulder.
"I felt it was a penalty!
"He wasn’t sure it was a penalty, but I was pretty sure it was. I was in front of him and he pulled back on my shoulder.
"It was nice to play again after a while. It was a good game to come into, Belgium are a very good side.
"We’ve got to be delighted with the performance level and getting the three points."
