Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher hammer Arsenal despite win over Newcastle United

Manchester United great Roy Keane and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher have hammered Arsenal after their 4-0 win over Newcastle United.

The Gunners showed clear signs of improvement under Mikel Arteta in the victory, but Carragher insists that the club have no chance of making the top four.

Keane, meanwhile, has been critical of the way the Arsenal players over-celebrated in his opinion following the hammering at the Emirates Stadium.

Keane told Sky Sports: "Arsenal’s celebration towards the end? It was way over the top. When I was watching it, I thought they were 10-points clear in the league with the way they were celebrating at the end.

“Arsenal were way over the top with their celebrations for beating Newcastle 4-0, ridiculous.”

Carragher added: “I think it was a great result, a brilliant second-half performance, I thought the first half was very poor, but I just don’t think Arsenal are actually good enough.

“Yes they’ve closed the points gap, it was nice for them to get a few goals with [Nicolas] Pepe scoring, [Bukayo] Saka did really well at full-back, so there has been a lot of positivity around Mikel Arteta coming in and how things have changed."

“But it hasn’t actually changed the results so much, in fact they’ve actually got worse in some ways, so it was a big thing for them to get the win but Arsenal aren’t good enough to get into the Champions League.”

Both Keane and Carragher were speaking ahead of Chelsea's clash at home to Manchester United this evening.
