Roy Hodgson makes honest admission after Crystal Palace escape with Everton draw

Roy Hodgson has made an honest admission after his side escaped with a draw against Everton on Saturday.

Despite the Blues dominating the majority of proceedings at Selhurst Park, they weren't able to find the all-important goal which would have build on last week's stunning win over Manchester United.

Marco Silva's side now find themselves in eighth in the Premier League, but are four points behind Wolves in the race for what could potentially be the last Europa League place.

Stubborn Crystal Palace have put big dent in wayward Everton's Europa League dream

And, following his side's draw, Palace boss Hodgson admitted he couldn't have complained if Everton were to have won on Saturday.

"We dreamed of a different game," the Eagles boss said following the match.

"A game where we would have a lot of possession and pass the ball around and show some of the quality we believe we have in the team.

"We weren’t able to do that and you could say that is because we were playing against a good team, there are games that don’t go the way you dream of going, you have to play the game that is out there to play.

Lucas Digne opens up on how Lionel Messi and one Everton 'legend' have helped him massively improve

"We accepted it wasn’t to be one of our best days on the ball, they were in our final third on a good number of occasions and we had to make sure our defending was as solid and brave as it was.

"Had they scored and won it 1-0 I couldn’t have come in here and cried ’scandal’."
