Ross McCormack's Motherwell return flops as striker told he has no future at Fir Park

Ross McCormack will not return to Motherwell next season after an injury-ravaged second spell at Fir Park.

Stephen Robinson confirmed on Friday that the Aston Villa loanee has no future in Lanarkshire after making just four appearances since his return.

A calf injury has ruled out McCormack since the 2-1 win away to St Mirren on February 6 and returned to his parent club for treatment.

The 32-year-old arrived to much fanfare back in January and there was high hopes after previously starring for the Steelemen between 2006 and 2008.

But the Well boss left no wiggle room about the forward's future with an emphatic answer during his press briefing.

Robinson said: "No. He won't be back."

It could be a summer of change at Motherwell with the likes of Alex Gorrin, Jake Hastie, Chris Cadden and Elliot Frear all out of contract at the end of the season.

But Robinson warned his side won't be left hanging on for players and offers to stay won't always be on the table.

He added: "We won't wait around.

"If anyone else appears that we think can do the job we will sign them. My job is to build Motherwell Football Club for next season and in the coming years. Players' job is to get the best deal they possibly can.

"We have offered contracts to six people verbally and written but those contracts will only stay on the table for so long."
