Rosie O'Donnell writes poem about her reconciliation with Ivanka Trump

Actress Rosie O’Donnell has written a poem about meeting Ivanka Trump by chance and managing to reconcile their differences.

The friendly remarks came to pass even though Ms O'Donnell has been the frequent target of Donald Trump's public attacks.

The day after running into Ms Trump at prestigious restaurant Nobu in Manhattan, Ms O’Donnell uploaded the poem to her website.

Entitled "8 million to one", it describes her mind-set before going into the restaurant, and that she told the 34-year-old executive about herself and her children.

She also tweeted her thanks to Ms Trump for listening to her, "mother to mother".

"i walked the 5 steps toward her table

introduced myself

she smiled genuinely

her husband was warm and gracious

"i told her of my children

some truths about myself

my pain and shame

she was absurdly kind

“"i just wanted u to know'

i said in a shaky quiet voice

i then made my way down the large wooden stairway

into my waiting car."

Ms O’Donnell has been the frequent target of attack by Ms Trump’s father, the Republican nominee.

At the first presidential debate against Hillary Clinton, he said he did not feel sorry for saying "tough words" against her.

The words included calling her a "slob", a "fat pig" and a "loser", remarks which Ms Clinton featured in an advert lamenting Mr Trump’s attitude towards women.

"Hillary is hitting me with tremendous commercials," he said.

"Some of it said in entertainment, some of it said by somebody who’s been very vicious to me, Rosie O’Donnell. I said very tough things to her and I think everybody would agree that she deserves it and nobody feels sorry for her."

The Trump campaign confirmed to CNN that Ms Trump met Ms O’Donnell on Wednesday night at Nobu 57 but did not provide any details.
