Rosario Dawson has spoken out about her filmed cameo in Spider-Man: Brand New Day that didn’t make the final cut.
The Star Wars: Ahsoka actor, 47, was originally expected to appear in the latest Marvel blockbuster as her Daredevil character Claire Temple/Night Nurse. But her scene was ultimately “cut out,” she revealed last month at GalaxyCon Raleigh 2026.
“I told my mom, and she was like, ‘That sucks. Now I can’t post the pictures,’ and I was like, ‘Right, mom, me being cut out of the movie that has like the largest viewership of a trailer ever, the issue is you can’t post your BTS photos,’” Dawson joked, according to The Wrap.
“When I tell you my post was already ready with my BTS, with like my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff because he loves Spider-Man — then I got the email done,” she explained. “So yeah. I’m a reject of Spider-Man.”
Dawson starred as Claire Temple, a crucial medical ally and romantic interest to Charlie Cox’s superhero Matt Murdoch/Daredevil, in the three-season superhero drama Daredevil, which aired from 2015 to 2018. Daredevil and Spider-Man famously exist in the same live-action universe, with Cox even making a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
“I would love — I still, because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that,” Dawson said. “So I hope I get to be Claire again.”
The deleted Brand New Day scene showed Claire helping Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man into the hospital after his fight against Scorpion (Michael Mando), according to The Wrap.
Screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers previously confirmed to the outlet that Dawson’s scene was likely removed due to runtime constraints.
“Rosario Dawson is great. I wasn’t there for those discussions. But it was great. If anything, you have a movie that is two-and-a-half hours long, and it’s almost an embarrassment of riches with so many great characters and so many great scenes,” McKenna said.
“The scene they did was a good scene; I think the only reason it’s not in the final cut was just it was probably cut for time because it was very good,” Sommers added.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-slinging superhero, alongside Zendaya. The new film, which also stars Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal and Jacob Batalon, is both a critical and massive box-office success, having earned $1.6 million globally in its second week.
