Romeo Lavia tipped to become next Liverpool midfield signing after Dominik Szoboszlai

As the 2023/2024 Premier League season edges ever closer, the excitement around who Jurgen Klopp will bolster his Liverpool squad with continues to grow.

After bidding farewell to the likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, the Reds quickly swooped to sign World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion.

While there is no doubt that capturing the Argentine for £35m is a smart piece of business, Liverpool can ill afford to rest on their laurels and do not appear to have done so. Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai is set to be next through the door in a £60million move from RB Leipzig.

Even then, it is recognised that more will need to arrive in order to complete the rejuvenation that Klopp and Co are keen on implementing. There is also the potential for more departures away from Anfield, too. And below is the round-up of players mooted with switches to or away from the Reds.

Romeo Lavia

The Athletic's Jacob Tanswell believes Liverpool are a more likely destination for Romeo Lavia this summer. However, they will be forced to pay a hefty sum.

The Reds are admirers of the 19-year-old Belgian midfielder, as the ECHO has previously revealed, after he enjoyed a fruitful debut Premier League campaign with relegated Southampton following his move from Manchester City.

Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Southampton writer Tanswell revealed: "Southampton want a high figure for him. Someone has got to pay around £45m-£50m for Lavia. Who can do that is dependent on all the other targets they get.

"Liverpool or Chelsea. I probably think Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp and with the background [work] they’ve done on him, that probably looks the likely destination."

Khephren Thuram

Khephren Thuram is a name that continues to be strongly linked with a move to the Reds this summer and Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has provided an update in his coverage of their pursuit of the towering midfielder.

He claims the situation is an "evolving one" as Liverpool seek to "speed things up" in order to shut the door on Newcastle United, who are also said to be interested in Thuram,

This comes two days on from Galetti's previous update, when he told his followers talks were progressing between Anfield chiefs and OGC Nice.

Thuram impressed as he made 35 Ligue 1 appearances for Nice across the 2022/2023 campaign, though a deal is likely to only be completed once he returns from international duty with France at the European Under-21 Championship.

Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate is said to be on the shortlist of reigning Italian champions Napoli as they attempt to replace Kim Min-Jae, who is set to join Bayern Munich for €50m.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport report that they are in the market for a "heir" to the South Korean, who helped the club to its first Scudetto in 33 years, and particularly someone who has leadership and physical attributes.

Real Sociedad's Robin Le Normand is top of the list, followed by Konate, Max Kilman of Wolves and Robin Koch of Leeds.

They write: "Ibrahima Konaté (24) has not played a lot at Liverpool but spending money at Anfield is not easy and also the signings in those parts are remarkable."

Konate has proved a popular member of Liverpool's squad since arriving on Merseyside in the summer of 2021, making 53 appearances across all competitions. At 24, he is sure to develop further as his career progresses and would certainly raise eyebrows if he was to depart.
