Romeo and Cruz Beckham appeared to make a subtle dig at their brother Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz last month, amid ongoing speculation about tensions within the Beckham family.
Brooklyn, 26, was noticeably absent from both of his parents’ recent birthday celebrations — including a star-studded party in London to mark David Beckham’s 50th.
Reports have long suggested a rift between Nicola, 30, and other members of the Beckham family, with some claiming personality clashes behind the scenes. There have also been rumours of a fallout between Brooklyn and Romeo, 21, linked to Romeo’s new girlfriend Kim Turnbull.
Now, it seems the tension may have surfaced online earlier than previously thought.
On 5 April, Romeo’s ex-girlfriend Mia Regan, 22, a British model, posted an image from her latest cover shoot on Instagram. Nicola, who reportedly became close to Mia during her relationship with Romeo, commented: “So beautiful Mia ✨.”
Just two days later, on 7 April, Romeo posted a carousel of photos on Instagram — including snaps of his current girlfriend Kim, who is also a model.
Under the post, Cruz cheekily commented: “So beautiful Romeo ✨.”
Romeo responded with three ‘crying with laughter’ emojis.
While the exchange went unnoticed by most followers, some were quick to pick up on the apparent shade.
One user commented: “@cruzbeckham you copy @nicolaannepeltzbeckham s comment to Mia? Why?”
Another simply added: “Childish.”
Stars including Tom Cruise, Gordon Ramsay and Eva Longoria turned out as David Beckham celebrated his 50th birthday in London last week.
Despite the glamour on display, much attention focused on the conspicuous absence of eldest Beckham son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola, whose decision not to attend has raised eyebrows.
The silence follows Brooklyn’s absence from Victoria’s birthday last month, when he and wife Nicola Peltz were seen partying at the Coachella music festival. Similarly, neither David nor Victoria posted congratulations online as Brooklyn and Nicola marked their third wedding anniversary.
Despite the tension, the source said there has been “some contact”, and both Brooklyn and Nicola were invited to David’s London birthday party — although they did not respond.
David and Victoria reportedly hired a £40 million Brigadier Global 6000 private jet for his birthday celebrations on Friday, May 2, spending the afternoon wine tasting at a vineyard in Bordeaux before dining at his favourite restaurant in Paris. The family later returned to London a lavish birthday party on Saturday.
According to the Mail, the 50th birthday is just the latest of at least 11 family occasions Brooklyn is said to have missed.
