Rohit Sharma joins MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in this elite IPL list

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma on Wednesday became the first player to feature in 200 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, solidifying his status as one of the franchise's most iconic figures.

This milestone places him in elite company alongside Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) and MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), who have also reached the 200-game mark with their respective franchises.

Rohit's 200th appearance for Mumbai Indians marks his 245th IPL match overall, a testament to his enduring presence and impact in the tournament. Only MS Dhoni surpasses him in the number of IPL appearances, with 252 matches to his name.

The Mumbai Indians stalwart has been an integral part of the franchise for 14 IPL editions, showcasing remarkable consistency and loyalty. Since joining the team in 2011, Rohit has missed only six matches, highlighting his unwavering commitment to the Mumbai Indians cause.

With over 5000 runs to his name, Rohit Sharma stands as the all-time leading run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, a remarkable achievement that underscores his batting prowess and longevity. His century for the franchise, a rare feat achieved by only two Indians including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, further solidifies his place in Mumbai Indians' folklore.

Among his numerous records, Rohit holds the second-highest individual score for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, an unbeaten 109 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in 2012.

Additionally, his leadership has been instrumental in Mumbai Indians' success, with Rohit featuring in 111 victories for the franchise, the most by any player. Remarkably, he has captained the team to victory on 87 occasions, setting a new benchmark for leadership excellence.

Rohit's ability to deliver under pressure is evident in his tally of 35 scores of 50 or more for Mumbai Indians, a record unmatched by any other player in the franchise's history.

Furthermore, his outstanding performances have earned him 16 Player of the Match awards, cementing his status as a talismanic figure for Mumbai Indians.
