Rod Stewart 'stormed off stage' at recent UK gig leaving fans fuming as show cut short

Sir Rod Stewart left his fans unhappy at one of his recent shows when he got cut off early and his show ended abruptly. The Maggie May singer has been slammed by some for leaving things on a "rude" note as he reportedly "stormed off stage."

The singing legend was performing in Plymouth on Saturday night when fans were left stunned and let down after the Maggie May rocker finished what was meant to be his second last song of the night around 10.30pm when the stage plummeted into darkness with no encore.

The 78-year-old seemingly added insult to injury according to reports by Plymouth Live as his last song 'Sailing' was set to hold a special meaning to the city when it was unexpectedly axed at an abrupt ending to the concert over the weekend.

It is unclear why his performance was cut short, with the venue having permission from the local council to run until 11pm, although a spokesperson has since said the gig was due to finish at 10.30pm.

They said: "Despite rumours and reports, Plymouth City Council and the venue did not ask Rod Stewart to finish early last night."

One fan explained: "After attending the Rod Stewart concert yesterday evening he finished his second to last song, the finale being We Are Sailing to be told it was 10.30pm and he couldn't continue.

"With this Rod stormed off the stage and the concert was left without light. Hundreds of fans like myself were left in shock and waited for an iconic moment dedicated to the Navy."

Another fumed: "Four of us attended the Rod Stewart concert at Home Park. It was a fabulous night but what an abrupt end. A guy dressed in black came onto the stage and ordered Rod off because of a curfew.

"Rod, of course, immediately left and the lights came on. OMG no goodbye to fans, no encore. Everyone was stunned at the rude and abrupt ending to what was an amazing concert.

"Who was the guy in black who asked Rod to leave the stage? Why did Rod end the concert so abruptly? We were at the front and poor Rod looked stunned.

"Another few minutes to finish and say goodbye is all it would have taken. He had not even reached the end of the song before he was asked to leave the stage They should have started earlier if they had such a strict policy."

It is in stark contrast to Rod's usual on-stage persona where he usually delights his fans with his top hits in highly energetic performances bounding around the stage.
