Rod Stewart in Celtic v Rangers big match reporting ruse to access Parkhead for game

Sir Rod Stewart has said he will work as a sports reporter in order to get into the stadium at next month’s Old Firm game.

The Celtic-daft rocker is desperate to be at Parkhead when his side play Rangers in the top-of-the-table league fixture on October 17.

However, the match is likely to be played behind closed doors due to coronavirus restrictions.

Sir Rod, 75, revealed he would be willing to report on the game for TalkSport.

Presenter Adrian Durham made the singer an offer to work for the radio station when he phoned into his show.

Sir Rod said: “I would give my right arm to do that.”

The crooner admitted he was concerned how well Rangers were playing ahead of the game.

He added: “They are playing bloody well I must admit. They were outstanding against Motherwell but then again so were we against Hibs, we scored three.”

Last week, the Scottish Government announced the phased return of fans to Scottish Premiership matches from October 5 had been postponed.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has repeatedly called for more to be done to get supporters back into their stadium.

Speaking last week, he said: “I do think it is safer to sit at a safe distance in an open-air venue than go and watch it in a pub or a restaurant.

“We need to find some smart solutions for this. Whether that is football as a sport or all sports.”
