Robert Wickens set to again compete in IMSA sprint rounds with DXDT Racing

Robert Wickens is staying put at DXDT Racing and will contest the sprint rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, beginning with next month’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The 37-year-old Canadian revealed the announcement on Tuesday during an IMSA-hosted Zoom media session. He will reprise his role behind the wheel of the team’s Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, with Mason Filippi - his teammate at Bryan Herta Autosport from 2022-24 in Michelin Pilot Challenge - as his co-driver in the GTD class events at Long Beach, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), Virginia International Raceway (VIR), and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Yeah, so for 2026 we're happy to announce that we're continuing with DXDT Racing and Corvette and General Motors in the same calendar as we did in 2025,” Wickens said. “I'm going to be doing all five of the sprint rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship alongside a former teammate and good friend of mine, Mason Filippi, so it's going to be an exciting season.

“I'm hoping to continue the momentum that we started to create in 2025, although it feels like a lifetime ago now since I last drove the car in VIR, but really just excited to continue with DXDT Racing, Corvette and most importantly, with Bosch with my electronic braking system and my hand controls that make the whole thing possible.

“It's not going to be easy. In a way I almost felt more prepared last year even though it was my first race in the Corvette because the last time I've driven the car was at VIR in early August. We're confident we have the right people to get up to speed quickly and hopefully we can have more success in Long Beach.”

Wickens, who captured the TCR title in Pilot Challenge in 2023, made the jump into IMSA for the sprint rounds last season, recording three top 10s in five races that was highlighted with a best result of fourth (CTMP).
