Robert Downey Junior full of praise for Alexandria fundraising hero Aaron

Megastar Robert Downey Jr told a brave Alexandria boy he had “nothing but pride for him” in a heartwarming message.

The Iron Man actor delivered a special video message to 10-year-old Aaron Hunter at ahte Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, which were screened last week.

Viewers watched on Tuesday night as the youngster, who suffers with rare disease ROHHAD, was given a Young Fundraiser award for helping raise £300,000 towards a cure.

In his message, the Hollywood actor said: “Aaron I have nothing but pride for you.

“Congratulations on this award and by the way, we gotta meet this number, £300k, come on everybody. I mean, you know, give what you can. If this goal is not met, I’m probably gonna quit acting.

“What a terrible loss that would be.

“Anyway, it’s your night and God bless your heart, brother.”

Celebrities were seen welling up as Aaron’s story was told in emotional scenes.

Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt also sent Aaron a special video message, telling him: “I’m so proud of you, kiddo.

“I just want you know that I love you, I’m thinking about you and I’m praying for you.

“I’m here on set right now and I wanted to take a minute to make this video for you because I think you’re special and great and I want you to keep fighting.”
