Robert Downey Jr shares a 'happy' photo with his Oscar trophy; Johnny Depp, Russo brothers send him love

The celebrations are just getting started for Hollywood icon Robert Downey Jr. as he took to his handle to share a 'happy' photo of himself clutching his newly acquired Academy Award trophy.

The actor, who clinched his first-ever Oscar for his role as Lewis Strauss in the Christopher Nolan film 'Oppenheimer', took to his handle to share a photo of himself in his robe as he smiled widely and held on to his trophy. He posted the image with a caption that simply read, "Oh happy day..."

Following the announcement of Downey Jr.'s Oscar victory, fellow actor and longtime friend Johnny Depp extended his heartfelt congratulations via social media. Depp, acknowledging the significance of the moment, expressed his joy for his dear friend, stating, "Let's try this again, congrats to my dear friend."

Moreover, the directing duo behind the blockbuster hit 'Avengers: Endgame', Joe and Anthony Russo, joined in the chorus of admiration for Downey Jr.'s accomplishment. Sharing a photograph taken during the filming of the box office record-breaking movie, the Russo Brothers showered the actor with praise, saying, "This guy deserves every award in the world. Not just for being a generational actor, but for being a generational human being. Much love, and a GIANT, HUGE congrats Mr. RDJ."

Robert became an Oscar winner on Sunday in a long-awaited victory for the veteran actor who received his first acting nod three decades ago. Downey’s first Oscar nod 30 years ago, when he was 28.

The actor said recently on “The View” that he’s grateful he didn’t end up winning in 1993 for best actor for 'Chaplin'. he explained, "I was young and crazy,” he said. “It would have put me under the impression that I was on the right track."

Downey also received an Oscar nod in 2008 for a supporting role in "Tropic Thunder".
