Robbie Neilson expecting Hearts and Celtic fireworks in Scottish Cup as he provides Stephen Humphrys transfer clue

Robbie Neilson has hinted Hearts will look at signing Stephen Humphrys again after his loan spell in Edinburgh expires - as he looks ahead to fixtures on two fronts against Motherwell and Celtic.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Tynecastle from Wigan Athletic till the end of the season and has impressed since arriving in the summer. Humphrys has put in some decent displays for Neilson and none more impressive than the one against Dundee United earlier this month when he scored in the dying minutes from his own half.

Hearts head to Fir Park to take on Motherwell on Sunday lunchtime looking to extend their lead in third place in the Scottish Premiership. Well interim boss Stuart Kettlewell will be in the dugout for the tie and is believed to be in contention for the top job in Lanarkshire. Motherwell are understood to have conducted interviews with Grant McCann and Ian Holloway over their managerial vacancy while Jack Ross appears to have stepped back from the process.

Speaking about Humphrys on Sky Sports, Neilson said: "It's definitely something we will look at in the summer, but obviously he is a Wigan player, he's employed by them but we will definitely touch on that, that's for sure."

On the game with Motherwell, he added: "We are trying to cement that third place position in the league. So, for us we've got to concentrate on getting the three points."

Celtic have also been drawn as their Scottish Cup quarter-final and Neilson says it's a tie to savour: "If you want to win a Scottish Cup, most of the time you are going to have to beat at least one of the Old Firm. To get a home tie in the quarter-final against Celtic is a good opportunity, a full house at Tynecastle, it will be some game."
