Robber uses online ads to lure victims in Washington Heights: police

Two robberies were reported in June, 2019 in Washington Heights.

Chicago police are warning Washington Heights residents of a pair of armed robberies reported in June.

In both incidents, the victims were lured to a location to buy products from someone posting an online advertisement, according to a community alert from Chicago police. The victims were actually met by a man who flashed a gun and took personal property from them.

The pair of incidents happened at 10 a.m. June 16 and 10 p.m. June 23 in the 9300 block of South Aberdeen Street, police said.

The offender is described by police as being about 25 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches and 215 pounds, with short hair and a dark brown complexion.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
