Rob McElhenney reveals he has been diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders at 46

Wrexham co-owner and Hollywood star Rob McElhenney has revealed he has been diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders and learning difficulties at the age of 46.

He took to social media to make the personal announcement, and was quickly met with an influx of support.

His full statement read: "I was recently diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities! At 46!

I go through the full diagnosis/prognosis on the @thesunnypodcast (which drops in 2 weeks). It’s not something I would normally talk about publicly but I figured there are others who struggle with similar things and I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone."

He continued: "You’re not stupid. You’re not 'bad'. It might feel that way sometimes. But it’s not true :)"

Fans quickly commented their support of his decision to publicly reveal his condition. One Twitter user wrote: "I’m autistic and it seriously means so much to me that you’re doing something like this :’) thank you so much for opening up about it, it’s gonna help break down so much of the stigma around being neurodivergent!!"

Another added: "I look forward to hearing all about it on the podcast, thank you for sharing and being inspirational," while a third said: "This is so comforting to read. I’m just one year ahead of you and going through very similar.

"It’s amazing how some things make so much sense to me now. I almost feel like a different person, now, but I’m actually not, if you get my drift???? Great work, Rob."

The diagnosis comes as Rob and his actor pal Ryan Reynolds get ready to lead Wrexham AFC back into the football league. The duo bought the club in February 2021.

Since then, the club achieved promotion to League Two thanks to a dramatic promotion battle.

The Welsh club are currently favourites to win League Two following their stunning promotion, with Stockport and Notts County also fancied by the bookies. The latter club won promotion last season by beating Chesterfield in a penalty shootout.

Rob and Ryan have also joined investors and bought into Alpine F1 team as they expand their assets while also continuing with their successful acting careers.
