So when Gronk went on Instagram on Sunday to tease a “big announcement” on Tuesday, the cryptic message seemed like it might be related to his retirement status. In all likelihood, it has nothing to do with catching passes from Brady. Gronk is partnered with a CBD company, and this appears to be another effort to promote that company. What tipped him off? Well, he’s wearing a hat with a cannabis leaf and a CBDMedic logo in the video where he teases his “wild” and “fun” announcement.
Gronk and CBDMedic are acutely aware of how much intrigue he draws when cryptically hinting at a potential return from retirement. They are probably leveraging that interest to draw attention to the brand.
Gronk announced his retirement this offseason, and has since revealed the significant physical issues he managed during his NFL career, which included concussions and pain-filled, sleepless nights. He has suggested on multiple occasions that he will not be returning to the NFL this year.
