Roads sealed off and large police response after 'serious' crash

A number of roads in Wigan have been sealed off following a serious police incident.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed road closures were in place following emergency services receiving reports of a collision on Manchester Road in Tyldesley, Wigan. Emergency services received reports of a crash at around 3.20am today (June 4).

A number of road closures are currently in place around the area close to the junction with Unsworth Street with GMP urging people to avoid the area. Travel for Greater Manchester is also stating that the closure is likely to be in place for a number of hours and may affect local bus routes.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told the MEN : "Officers are currently responding to a collision in Wigan. We were called at around 3.20am today (Saturday 4 June) to a report of a collision on Manchester Road, Tyldesley. Road closures have been put in place. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area."
