Road closures for the Remembrance parade in Manchester on Sunday

This weekend marks Remembrance Sunday, which is a time to reflect on those who we have lost in service.

People will come together to show their support to serving and former members of the armed forces, as well as to remember those who have fallen.

November 11 is recognised as Remembrance Day, but as it falls on a Monday this year, some of the large processions will instead be taking place on Sunday, November 10.

Commemorative events are being held across Greater Manchester on both days, but the annual parade through Manchester city centre will take place this Sunday.

However, as the procession makes its way through the city, there are a number of road closures put in place to be aware of.

The parade will assemble on Peter Street outside the Radisson Hotel, setting off for the Cenotaph at 10.25am.

Following the service, the parade will march back past Central Library, where a salute will be taken.

Road closures in place from 7am and 12.30pm

  • Albert Square
  • Bootle Street
  • Central Street
  • Jackson’s Row
  • Lloyd Street
  • Mount Street
  • Peter Street
  • Southmill Street
  • Tasle Alley
  • Cooper Street from Kennedy Street to Princess Street
  • Princess Street from Cross Street to George Street
  • Windmill Street one way from Lower Mosley Street to Watson Street.
