Road closed as army bomb squad find 'suspicious device'

A road was closed for several hours after a "suspicious device" was found in a home

Merseyside Police rushed to Worcester Road, near Derby Park in Bootle at around 6.33pm on Tuesday, May 31, as part of an ongoing investigation. Once at the scene officers found a "suspicious device" in a home on the road.

A cordon was put in place by officers and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) were called to the scene as a precaution.

Several police patrol cars and matrix vans were seen within the cordon and videos taken by eyewitnesses show police searching around the area.

The bomb squad have since left the property and the cordon was removed. A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said enquiries remain ongoing.
