Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he will miss TNT Sports’ live coverage of Arsenal’s massive Champions League semi-final decider against Paris Saint-Germain after posting a picture from what appeared to be a hospital bed.
The former Manchester United and England captain is one of TNT’s top pundits and is a regular fixture on their broadcasts of huge games such as the one set to unfold at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
However, Ferdinand - who was also not present on TNT on Tuesday evening when Inter Milan outlasted Barcelona in a seven-goal thriller at the San Siro to win 7-6 on aggregate after extra time and book their place in Munich on May 31 - will be absent from their coverage of the second leg in France after posting a picture of himself on social media platform X giving the thumbs up from what appeared to be a hospital bed.
He wrote alongside the photo: “Gutted to be missing the Semi-Finals this week on @footballontnt !! Wishing the team all the best — I’ll be watching every minute from the iPad!”

Ferdinand was quickly flooded with well wishes from his 11.6million followers including from Football on TNT Sports, who wrote: “Get well soon, Rio.”
Ferdinand is also set to miss Thursday night’s Europa League semi-final second-leg tie between Manchester United and Athletic Club at Old Trafford, in which his former club hold a commanding 3-0 advantage after a stunning win in Spain last week.
