Rio Ferdinand sends Jude Bellingham transfer message to Man United amid Liverpool links

Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club Manchester United to sign Jude Bellingham amid reported interest from Liverpool.

The Reds continue to be linked with the Borussia Dortmund starlet, who has elevated himself to be one of the most prized assets in Europe over the past 18 months.

Bellingham was signed by Dortmund in 2020 from Birmingham City for a fee of £25m plus add-ons, and his value will only have increased in that time.

That has led to the likes of Liverpool being linked with his services, despite Dortmund openly saying that they are not willing to let the 18-year-old depart anytime soon.

The ECHO understands that while Liverpool have long been admirers of Bellingham, any talk of a move is premature.

Ferdinand has spoken of his admiration for Bellingham, and has urged Man United to break the bank and prize him away from Dortmund at the earliest opportunity.

When asked what position in midfielder Bellingham could play at United, Ferdinand said on his FIVE Youtube channel: “Any. He’s that good.”

Ferdinand added: Serious. In the England youth teams there are times when he’s played as the holding midfielder. Times he’s played as the 8 and been box-to-box.

“And also times when he’s been told he can join the attacks more. He has the capabilities and capacity to play all of the roles, he’s that good.

“I think for him, I see him as being someone who can do it all. There aren’t many midfielders in the game now that can attack and defend – affect the game at both ends.

“When you are one of the super clubs, there are talents out there that make you think if we have the capacity and financial muscle, then he’s one you don’t want to miss.”
