Ring doorbell has little-known Christmas feature that'll make your home more merry

Over the last few years a number of people have purchased and installed Ring Video Doorbells next to their front door, in order to make themselves feel a little safer and keep an eye on people coming to their home.

But as well as helping provide some peace of mind, did you know your Ring Doorbell can also provide some festive cheer?

Those with the clever gadget can easily change up their doorbell sound to a more merry chime and also add a Christmas message for guests or anyone coming to the door.

All you need to do to select a new chime is make sure you've got the Ring app installed on your phone or tablet.

Simply open up the app and select the Ring device you want to edit, then head into the audio settings for your doorbell.

From here you should see an option for Chime Tones.

Click on this and you'll be able to browse through a number of options, including Christmas chimes such as Festive Ding Dong and Holiday Jingle.

Once you've found the one you like, make sure to hit save changes to use the new sound.

And if you want to add a festive message for visitors to your place, you can do so by altering your Quick Replies.

For instance, instead of a standard greeting, you could have one that says: "Merry Christmas!... We’re a little, wrapped up at the moment. Leave a message."

Open up the app once more and select your device, then under Quick Replies you'll be able to make the changes you want.

If this wasn't all festive enough for you, you can also give your doorbell a Christmas makeover to match the decorations in your home, as Ring sell interchangeable holiday faceplates that snap on over the top of your device.

There are five different looks to choose from, including snowflakes, Christmas wreath and Christmas lights and each cost £14.99.
