Riley's Fish Shack opening hours as acclaimed Tynemouth restaurant re-opens after refurbishment

One of the North East's most-loved restaurants is back open following a brief refurbishment.

Riley's Fish Shack, in Tynemouth has won praise from Britain's food critics since it opened as a pop-up in 2013, before a permanent restaurant launched in a hut on King Edward's Bay four years ago.

In late March, Rileys closed for a refurbishment - but the shack reopened over the Easter Weekend.  On a sunny Saturday, April 21, the famous queues were back at King Edwards Bay, with customers lining up to get their fish fix.

The take-away and sit-down restaurant won 5-star ratings from both the Guardian's Jay Rayner - who labelled it "the eating experience of the year" - and the Daily Mail's Tom Parker-Bowles.

Sadly, vandals broke into Riley's on Saturday night and destroyed £500 of deck chairs, which the business usually puts on the beach so customers can eat outside.

Riley's is offering a "What a disgrace" - Shock after break-in at Riley's Fish Shack in Tynemouth which could lead to an arrest and conviction for the vandals who broke in and set fire to its chairs.
