Rihanna compares the early months of motherhood to 'tripping on acid every day'

Rihanna has said that her first few months of motherhood has been like 'tripping on acid every day'.

The singer gave birth to her son six months ago on May 13 and has opened up about becoming a mother for the first time.

The 34-year-old said that 'motherhood is a whole other beast' and 'life starts over when you become a parent, it's life that you've never known before'.

She described her experience as 'trippy as hell'.

Rihanna shares her baby son with boyfriend and fellow musician A$AP Rocky and they have been together since November 2020.

They were spotted in New York City together around the time of the confirmation.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Rihanna said: "The beginning is like your tripping acid every day. It's wild, trippy as hell. You look at him and he’s yours but he’s a stranger and you’re learning him as he’s learning you and learning the world.

"When he looks at me in my eyes, my whole soul…I can’t tell if it’s cold or hot."

Rihanna also talked about how having a baby has affected her relationship, she said: "It's amazing to have a friendship be the center of our entire family, I really love it."

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have held off on sharing their six-month-old's name so far but some fans think they have managed to work out the name.

Rihanna was spotted wearing a pendant with a 'D' on it, causing some to think the name must start with that letter.

The news that Rihanna was dating her longtime friend A$AP broke in January 2020 following her split from Hassan Jameel after almost three years of dating.

Rihanna and A$AP were also romantically linked in 2013 for a brief period when she appeared in his music video for Fashion Killa.

Rihanna told Vogue that she didn't slow down during her pregnancy.

She said: "None of the dials are turned down. I think I even say yes to more now because I know it will be different on the other side of this. At first I expected some magical change, but really I remain who I am."

She is also set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year.

Rihanna said: "'Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been. And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again.

"Still, I have businesses that aren’t going to run themselves. My mom handled the three of us with not even close to the amount of resources that I have, so I can absolutely do it."
