Jamie Redknapp has waxed lyrical about Ben White and has insisted it's no surprise Leeds United wanted to sign him permanently.
The Whites pushed hard to re-sign White after his key role in their promotion to the Premier League last season.
However, Brighton remained adamant throughout the summer they wouldn't sell the 22-year-old and rejected two bids, totalling up to £25million.
Leeds instead moved on and signed Robin Koch from Freiburg, whilst White penned a new four-year contract on the south coast with the promise of first-team football.
Graham Potter indeed stuck true to his word, with White starting on the right of a three-man defence in Brighton's opening two matches of the season.
Against Newcastle United, White even played the final half an hour as a right-back but his impressive start to life in the Premier League has come as little surprise to Leeds supporters.
For Redknapp though, he was full of praise for the Englishman, who he has tipped to rise to the very top, with Liverpool keeping a keen eye on his progress.
“I want to mention Ben White," Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"There’s a centre-back there who is going to go right to the top. He is so comfortable on the ball, you can see why Leeds wanted to keep him.
"He’s destined for an amazing future, that young man, I love him."
