A WOMAN has suffered multiple serious injuries in a ride-on lawn mower accident on a rural Hunter property.
Emergency services, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, were sent to a property at Wollombi about 6pm Saturday to reports of a serious accident involving a ride-on mower.
To make the situation more complicated the property was surrounded by flood waters making it difficult for paramedics to access the site.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care medical team were winch inserted into the property.
The woman, aged in her 60s, had suffered multiple serious injuries. She was stabilised and placed on life support before being stretcher winched into the helicopter and airlifted direct to the John Hunter Hospital.
She remained in a critical condition on Sunday.
Her partner was unable to travel in the helicopter with the critical care team, so other emergency services stepped in to get him to the hospital.
The Rural Fire Service on scene had communication with the man via radio and organised for him to make it by foot down to a water crossing.

The specialist SES swift water team with the help of the Cessnock District Rescue Squad provided a hauling team and utilised a vehicle as an anchor point to safely bring the man across the water to make his way to the hospital to be with his partner.
"This rescue required a lot of resources and a large number of specialised personnel," a statement from the Cessnock District Rescue Squad said.
"It was an amazing effort by everyone on scene. We hope the woman makes a full recovery."
