Richard Madeley battled to keep it together on GMB while daughter Chloe underwent emergency C-section

Richard Madeley has revealed that he was busy hosting Good Morning Britain while his daughter Chloe was undergoing an emergency caesarean last month.

The 35-year-old welcomed her first child, a daughter named Bodhi Rae Georgia, on August 10 with her sports star husband James Haskell, 37.

While the pair are thrilled to be parents, they discussed how Bodhi’s birth was far from straight forward, with Chloe having to undergo an emergency caesarean over concerns about their little one’s decreasing heart rate.

And the fitness fanatic revealed that while she was in emergency surgery, her famous dad was busy hosting Good Morning Britain.

The 66-year-old told OK! Magazine that he was getting updates in their family WhatsApp chat while on-air and said that he turned to his co-host Charlotte Hawkins when Chloe was rushed into theatre.

He shared: "I was telling my co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins, privately, ‘it’s all kicking off, she’s being induced, oh my god she’s having an emergency c-section’ - but obviously I didn’t say anything on air.”

The TV star went on to say that while he was apprehensive about Chloe’s birth, he didn’t worry too much as wife Judy had delivered her twins, Dan and Tom with her first husband David, via c-section.

The telly veteran added that his granddaughter was safely brought into the world as Good Morning Britain was coming to an end and even received a round of applause from the show’s crew to mark her safe arrival.

"There she was,” he added. “Everyone gathered around and applauded, the whole crew. It was really nice.”

Now a month on from the stressful birth, Chloe and James said they are enjoying parenthood while staying with her parents, which she branded a “blessing” and even labelled her dad the “baby whisperer”.

"Dad’s been scooping Bodhi up and taking her upstairs in the mornings to my mum so she can have an hour-long cuddle, just them two, which I think is the sweetest thing in the world,” Chloe told the mag.

"They’re really besotted and I’m so grateful we’re staying with my parents during this time, it’s just been so lovely.”
